TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi has confirmed that Kaizer Chiefs made several attempts to re-sign 21-year-old winger Puso Dithejane before his eventual move to Major League Soccer side Chicago Fire. The revelation has sparked widespread discussion, with a football law expert now offering clarity on whether those actions may have breached FIFA regulations.
Sukazi stated that Chiefs tried various methods to convince Dithejane to return to Naturena while he was still contracted to TS Galaxy. The comments quickly drew attention across South African football, as fans and analysts debated whether the approaches were allowed under international transfer rules.
According to a legal expert familiar with FIFA regulations, the most important factor in such cases is whether a club approaches a player who is under contract without the permission of his current club. FIFA rules clearly prohibit direct or indirect contact with a contracted player unless consent has been granted. This regulation exists to protect clubs from unfair interference and to maintain integrity within the transfer system.
