Kaizer Chiefs to sign former Mamelodi Sundowns striker

Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly considering a move for former Mamelodi Sundowns forward Cassius Mailula, who is currently on loan at Wydad Athletic Club from Toronto FC.

Mailula’s temporary stay with Wydad is set to expire on July 31, 2025, with the Moroccan club holding an option to make the deal permanent. Since his arrival, the 23-year-old striker has featured in 16 matches across all competitions, scoring once and providing three assists. However, with Wydad coach Rulani Mokwena expected to depart, Mailula’s future at the club appears uncertain — a situation that Chiefs are hoping to capitalize on.

An insider revealed to Soccer Laduma that Chiefs have made inquiries about Mailula’s availability, although Toronto FC retains the final say regarding his next move. Discussions revolve around whether he will be loaned out again or sold permanently. Chiefs are reportedly prepared to battle for his signature, despite rising interest from European clubs. Another source emphasized that Chiefs would have to act decisively and possibly outbid other suitors if they are serious about securing the talented South African’s services.
