Nabi Defends Chiefs' Effort: "Nobody Can Undermine What the Team Has Done This Season"

Despite a disappointing end to the season, Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has firmly defended his team’s efforts, urging critics to acknowledge the progress made during a challenging campaign.
The Glamour Boys failed to secure a top-eight finish in the DStv Premiership, triggering widespread criticism from fans and analysts alike. But Nabi, appointed at the start of the season to steer the club toward revival, insists the team’s growth cannot be ignored.
“I think nobody can undermine what the team has done this season,” said Nabi during a post-season media briefing. “We have built a foundation. The results may not reflect the hard work, but the shift in mentality, the development of younger players, and our playing style are clear signs of progress.”
Kaizer Chiefs, one of South Africa’s most storied clubs, faced mounting pressure throughout the season as expectations clashed with on-field realities. Injuries, squad transitions, and tactical overhauls tested the club’s depth and resilience.
Nabi emphasized the importance of patience and continuity. “Rebuilding takes time. This is not the final picture but just the first brushstroke,” he said.
