After the Premier Soccer League match between Kaizer Chiefs and Magesi FC ended in a tie, manager Nasreddine Nabi expressed his worries. The Tunisian coach blamed his team's play and the referees' decisions for the Chiefs' missed opportunities in a closely played game that they ultimately lost.
Nabi voiced his displeasure with the match official's decisions to the media, implying that his team might have lost the game due to refereeing mistakes. "We thought decisions went against us at important stages in the game," he said. The need of consistent officiating in preserving the league's competitive integrity was stressed by Nabi, who did concede that mistakes are inevitable in the game.
Also, Nabi brought up the fact that the PSL doesn't use Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology, saying that if it were implemented, it would help cut down on officiating mistakes. The use of video assistant referees (VARs) has been lauded for improving the accuracy of officiating and has led to its widespread adoption in leagues worldwide. "We need VAR in the PSL," Nabi adamantly stated, highlighting how technology may have enabled the referees to review crucial moments in the match. He thinks matches like the one they had against Magesi FC would be decided more fairly with VAR.
The Soweto giants are under more pressure than ever to improve their PSL standings after their draw against Magesi FC. Nabi isn't done demanding better play from his squad; he's also hoping the league will think about using video assistant referees to help with calls during games.
